In poker, the bets may be limited in three different ways:
You can play each of these variants on the Internet.
First, let’s consider Limit Holdem. In Limit Holdem, your bets and your raises are restricted to a predefined amount. Limit Holdem tables feature “small bet” and “big bet” amounts. Therefore, if you see a Limit table with amounts of 0.5$/1$, this means that the following blinds and bets are applicable:
During the first two betting rounds, your bets and raises must be equal to the small bet. During the last two betting rounds, your bets and raises must be equal to the big bet.
The “small bet” has the same value as the “big blind”.
Each player is allowed a maximum of four bids during a single betting round in a game of Limit Holdem.
If you are a beginner, Limit Holdem is the best way to familiarise yourself with poker and improve your skills while minimising your risks. You could, for example, choose a $0.50 Limit table.
